CPH:DOX (13-24 March) will feature a healthy selection of Chilean documentaries. Among the highlighted films is Oasis, produced by the MAFI-Film Map of a Country-collective, which documents Chile’s process of drafting a new constitution in response to widespread social protests. The film, directed by Tamara Uribe and Felipe Morgado, previously premiered at the Berlinale’s Forum section and is set for its Danish premiere at CPH:DOX.
Additionally, Unwelcomed (Si vas para Chile), directed by Amilcar Infante and Sebastián González, will be presented in the CPH:WIP industry section. This documentary addresses the migration crisis in Chile, focusing on a specific anti-immigrant march in the north of the country, aiming to explore the experiences of both migrants and local residents amidst social tensions.
Errante Producciones is participating with two projects: Burning Daddy, directed by Tana Gilbert, which examines the personal and societal impacts of a violent family history in post-dictatorship Chile, and Breaking Words, directed by Eloisa Silva, focusing on the experiences of transgender adolescents through artistic workshops.
The participation of these films and projects at CPH:DOX is facilitated by Chiledoc, an organization dedicated to promoting Chilean documentaries internationally, in collaboration with ProChile and the Chilean Documentary Corporation (CCDoc). This presence at CPH:DOX aims to highlight Chilean documentary filmmaking on an international platform, showcasing the country’s engagement with contemporary social, political, and personal themes.
