The 64th Krakow Film Festival bestows the prestigious Dragon of Dragons award to two luminaries of the film industry: American director Godfrey Reggio and Polish cinematographer Jacek Petrycki. This dual recognition highlights their distinct contributions to cinema, bridging American and Polish film heritage.
Godfrey Reggio, known for his pioneering work in environmental documentaries, particularly the Qatsi Trilogy, has left an indelible mark on cinematic storytelling. His films, renowned for their visual splendour and thought-provoking content, will be celebrated at the festival.
Jacek Petrycki, a stalwart of Polish cinematography, is recognised for his exceptional work in documentaries and feature films. His influence extends over the last half-century of Polish cinema, collaborating with directors like Krzysztof Kieślowski and Marcel Łoziński. Petrycki’s portfolio, characterised by its realism and a keen eye for the poetic in everyday life, will be showcased in Krakow’s art-house cinemas.
Both laureates, through their masterclasses and retrospectives, offer festival-goers an immersive dive into their artistic visions. While Petrycki will conduct his masterclass in person, Reggio’s will take place online, ensuring his participation despite physical absence.
