Sarajevo Film Festival 2024

Krakow Film Festival announces first titles for 2024 festival

The Krakow Film Festival is set to dazzle audiences with its 64th edition from 26 May to 2 June 2024. The festival promises an array of deeply personal, award-winning documentaries, with online screenings extending from 31 May to 16 June on the KFF VOD platform.

At the forefront are three compelling documentaries acclaimed at prestigious festivals. Mohamed Jabaly’s Life is Beautiful, a poignant portrayal of unexpected emigration and isolation, clinched Best Director at IDFA. Shoghakat Vardanyan’s 1489 presents a heart-wrenching narrative of a family’s anguish and hope amidst conflict, capturing life’s raw moments through a silent phone-turned-camera. This film left Amsterdam with top honours. Lastly, Monogamia by Ohad Milstein, winner at Locarno’s Critics’ Week, delves into the complexities of relationships and self-reflection, juxtaposing the director’s own journey against his parents’ marital struggles.

The festival’s International Documentary Competition will see 12 films vying for the coveted Golden and Silver Horns, under the discerning eyes of festival director Krzysztof Gierat and documentary curator Anita Piotrowska. With the potential inclusion of Polish productions, anticipation is high for what this year’s selection will unveil.
