CPH:DOX has announced Facing War as its opening film for the 2025 edition. Directed by Norwegian filmmaker #Tommy Gulliksen#, the documentary provides a rare behind-the-scenes look at #Jens Stoltenberg#’s final years as #NATO Secretary General amid rising global tensions.

The world premiere will take place at the Royal Danish Academy of Music’s concert hall on 19 March, offering audiences an intimate perspective on Stoltenberg’s diplomatic efforts during the ongoing war in Ukraine. Initially set to step down, the Norwegian politician extended his term due to mounting geopolitical crises, navigating a fragile alliance while balancing negotiations with figures like Recep Erdoğan and Viktor Orbán.

Beyond serving as the festival’s curtain-raiser, Facing War is also nominated for the DOX:AWARD. The film, produced by Dox Division in collaboration with major Nordic broadcasters and impact-driven partners, will also be screened in cinemas across Denmark as part of the DOX:DANMARK initiative.
