East Doc Platform 2025 set to kick off in Prague

Written by:

Prague is set to host the East Doc Platform 2025 from March 13 to 19, bringing together industry professionals, emerging filmmakers, and documentary enthusiasts. Organized by the Institute of Documentary Film in cooperation with the One World Festival, the event serves as a premier networking and pitching forum while offering insights into the latest trends in documentary storytelling.

From 14 to 19 March at the French Institute in Prague, the open programme will feature free public events in English, including lectures, panel discussions, and film screenings. Prominent industry figures, including Claas Danielsen, Jesper Osmund, and Mirjam Wiekenkamp, will explore #AI ethics, archival research, and international coproductions. Highlights include a VR screening of Darkening and Goodbye Mr. Octopus and a masterclass by filmmaker Sebastian Brameshuber.

This year’s selected projects reflect urgent global issues of democracy, war, and resistance. Among them, Sounds of Revolution and Wave examine political struggles in Georgia, while Recovery and Shut the Fuck Up! document Ukraine’s resilience amid #war. Other projects tackle themes such as #propaganda in Russian re-education camps (Blue Sweater with a Yellow Hole) and the technologization of war (I See No Death).

The platform will also feature key industry pitching events, including the East Silver Market, East Doc Market, and East Doc Forum. The East Doc Platform Award remains the top prize, supporting the best project in development. This year’s major addition is the Council of Europe Series Co-Production Development Award, offering €50,000 to encourage international collaboration in documentary series production.
