CPH:DOX has announced the lineup for its 2025 INTER:ACTIVE exhibition, which will take place from 19 to 30 March at Kunsthal Charlottenborg. This year’s edition, themed «Untamed: Humanity Rewilded» showcases immersive and experimental artworks that challenge human-centric perspectives and explore alternative relationships with nature, technology, and society.
Curated by Mark Atkin, Head of Studies at CPH:LAB, the exhibition aims to redefine our engagement with the environment, drawing on the concept of solastalgia—the distress caused by environmental change. Featuring twelve multidisciplinary works, including #virtual reality#, #artificial intelligence#, interactive video games, and participatory performances, Untamed fosters discussions on ecological reconciliation and social transformation.
Unlike dystopian perspectives often associated with technology, the exhibition envisions a future of coexistence and creative reimagination. Highlights include:
- The Caring Machine – An AI-driven installation exploring digital companionship at life’s end.
- Natural Contacts – A malware artwork that transforms a computer into a living digital garden.
- The Forest That Breathes Us – A VR experience immersing participants in the sensory worlds of non-human beings.
- Huk, The Jaguaress – An interactive installation where an AI-revived Amazonian deity questions humanity’s impact on nature.
The exhibition will also feature the INTER:ACTIVE Award, offering a 10,000 DKK prize and exclusive networking opportunities at the NewImages Festival and Sunny Side of the Doc. The jury includes XR artist David Adler and curator Irene Campolmi, with a third juror yet to be announced.
