The #Docudays UA# DOCU/WORLD international program at this year’s festival guide brings together a diverse selection of films from around the world. Each film offers a unique perspective on the human experience, captured through the lens of talented directors.

In We Will Not Fade Away, we are introduced to five teenagers living near the frontline in the Luhansk Region. Despite their challenging surroundings and limited opportunities, these resilient individuals resist the hardships they face. Andriy dreams of owning a Harley-Davidson, while Illia aspires to become an actor. Ruslan expresses himself through rap music, Lera captures moments with her camera, and Liza paints beautiful watercolors. However, their dreams and aspirations are often dismissed by the adults around them. The film offers a glimpse into their lives, showcasing their determination to break free from the constraints of their environment.

In Three Women, set in the village of Stuzhytsia, nestled between Ukraine, Slovakia, and Poland, filmmaker Maksym Melnyk explores the lives of three heroines: Hanna, Nelia, and Maria. Each woman represents a different aspect of life in the village. Hanna’s connection to the land defines her existence, while Nelia’s scientific curiosity leads her to explore the intricacies of the surrounding nature. Maria, as the local postwoman, acts as a bridge between the village and the outside world. Through these women, Melnyk paints a vivid and anthropological portrait of Stuzhytsia, capturing its everyday moments, joys, and struggles.

In addition to We Will Not Fade Away and Three Women, the program includes other thought-provoking films such as The Pawnshop, Twice Colonized, Gorgona, and more. Each film offers its own unique perspective, shedding light on various aspects of the human story.
