Written by:

The International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH) proudly announces the sixth edition of its esteemed professional program, #Impact Days#. This unique initiative continues to champion human rights through the power of documentary filmmaking, emphasising the transformative role of collaboration in promoting global awareness and action.

Each year, Impact Days undertakes a threefold mission: selecting 16 extraordinary documentary projects worldwide, training teams in crafting impactful strategies, and connecting them with NGOs, international organizations, and philanthropists in Geneva and beyond. This year’s program drew an unprecedented response, with 170 submissions from 65 countries across five continents, reflecting a burgeoning global interest in human rights storytelling.

The final selection, representing filmmakers from 21 countries, showcases a diverse and poignant range of topics. These include the ongoing struggles of Afghan female politicians in exile, a rare glimpse into male ritual crying in #Brazil, and an innovative effort to preserve the disappearing #Quechua language by dubbing a Disney blockbuster. Additionally, the lineup addresses the protection of children born of #Daesh rape, the environmental and human toll of Nigeria’s #Big Oil#, the dangers faced by journalists in #Mexico, the nuances of love in the Irish Deaf community, and the challenges of growing up stateless in Lebanon’s #Shatila refugee camp.

In a further effort to deepen the conversation, Impact Days is hosting a webinar on January 18th, focusing on the benefits and security issues related to exposing #human rights# defenders in documentaries and impact campaigns. The event promises to offer insightful perspectives, featuring case studies and a panel of distinguished participants. Registration details and additional information will be available shortly, promising an engaging and thought-provoking session for all attendees.
