IDFA has added another 65 films to its 2021 festival lineup, 17 – 28 November, including the non-competitive program sections Best of Fests, Masters, and Paradocs.
Best of Fests will feature another robust selection of films favored across the 2021 festival circuit. These titles include Payal Kapadia’s A Night of Knowing Nothing, Marie Amiguet’s The Velvet Queen, Salomé Jashi’s Taming the Garden, Stefan Pavlović’s Looking for Horses, and more will make up the 46 film strong collection.
As for Masters, Andrea Arnold’s Cow and Karim Aïnouz’s Mariner of the Mountains both feature, as does Sergei Loznitsa’s Babi Yar. Context. Pietro Marcello, Francesco Munzi, and Alice Rohrwacher will also bring their collaborative filmmaking Futura to the 16 film collection.
Finally, Paradocs, pushing the boundaries of documentary film, will feature such notable selections as Just a Movement – the complex portrait of Omar Blondin Diop, the Senegalese artist, freedom fighter, and Jean-Luc Godard actor. In The Belly of the Mountain, the abstract essay film from cross-disciplinary artist Stephen Loye and Shengze Zhu’s A River Runs, Turns, Erases, Replaces explores the pandemic situation in Wuhan.
