Submissions are now open for the 67th Krakow Film Festival, which will screen in Krakow cinemas from 30 May to 6 June 2027 and online on KFF VOD from 4 to 18 June. Artistic Director Anita Piotrowska leads a selection team that will choose around 200 titles from documentaries and short films submitted worldwide.
The edition introduces an International Documentary Debut Competition, a dedicated space for directors making their first feature-length documentary. The festival will put heavier emphasis on discovering and promoting these films. Piotrowska says, «Taking part in an international competition will give this work greater prominence».
Documentaries of at least 50 minutes and short films of up to 30 minutes are eligible. Polish and international films completed before 31 October 2026 can be submitted until 30 November 2026. International productions completed after that date have until 31 January 2027, and Polish productions until 15 February 2027.
Selected titles will compete in the International Documentary Competition and the International Short Film Competition, which now sit beside the new debut section. The National Competition, long a showcase for new Polish productions, remains a fourth strand. Competition entries are eligible for the festival’s awards, such as the Golden Hobby-Horses for Polish productions, and the debut section will carry an award of its own. DocFilmMusic, the strand devoted to music documentaries, continues in a new format as a non-competitive section.
The festival qualifies short films and documentary features for the Academy Awards, as well as for the European Film Awards and BAFTA.
Regulations and the submission form are available at krakowfilmfestival.pl.
