Majordocs 2024: the complete winners

At the conclusion of the sixth edition of #MajorDocs, two films emerged as top winners. Objeto de estudio, directed by Raúl Alaejos, received the Jury Prize, while Kix, directed by David Mikulán and Bálint Réves, won the Audience Award. The festival also saw a significant rise in attendance, with a 50% increase compared to 2023, attracting 3,000 participants.

The jury, composed of artist #Marta Azparren#, filmmaker #Macià Florit#, and #Christine Camdessus#, artistic director of #FIPADOC, praised Objeto de estudio for its innovative approach to authorship and collective creation. Alaejos was awarded a cash prize of €1,500.

In addition, the jury granted a special mention to La hojarasca, directed by Macu Machín, for its intimate portrayal of three sisters navigating a family inheritance amidst the threat of a volcanic eruption. Kix, which follows a boy’s harsh transition into adulthood in Budapest, was selected by the audience and will be broadcast by the regional TV station IB3.

The new Balearic short film section highlighted Charlie últimas palabras by Anthony Neitzke as the best short, commended for its raw and tender depiction of aging. A special mention was also given to Valeria, Gerard, Gery by José Aragón.

The award for the best pitch, sponsored by the #DOCMA association, was given to The Path that Walks (Nar’hi enan) by Efthymia Zymvragaki. Special mentions were awarded to Level by Anna Berkhof and Carlos Mora, and Como dos extrañas by Carolina Astudillo.
