A European consultation titled Stories at Risk: Cultural Diversity, Democracy and Debate on Screen has opened for participation, inviting industry professionals to weigh in on the conditions shaping series storytelling across the continent. The project was developed by Seriesly Berlin and selected for sponsorship by the Council of Europe Pilot Programme for Series Co-Productions.

Stories at Risk operates as a consultation and think tank initiative, built in collaboration with a network of festivals, markets, professional associations and industry organisations spanning Europe. The project aims to strengthen creative freedom, cultural diversity and dialogue within the audiovisual sector at a moment of structural and economic change across the industry.

The survey targets a broad cross-section of the field, including writers, producers, broadcasters, streaming platforms, festivals, markets, film commissions and public funding bodies. Its questions probe how political, economic, editorial, regulatory and reputational forces influence the development, commissioning and production of series, with the goal of clarifying the environment in which these stories reach audiences.

Participation is anonymous and the survey takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes to complete. It remains open until 10 August 2026, giving prospective respondents a narrow window to contribute.

Results gathered through the consultation will feed into the Stories at Risk online Think Tank sessions. Organisers plan to present the findings at Seriesly Berlin in September 2026, alongside publication of an executive summary detailing the project’s conclusions.
