Beldocs sets complete 2023 Industry Days programme

Beldocs Industry Days 2023 is an important event for film professionals, particularly those from Western Balkan countries, Baltic States, Post-Soviet Media, South Caucasus countries, and Western Europe. The event is dedicated to fostering new relationships, collaborations, and co-productions to increase the distribution of European audiovisual works. Beldocs Industry Days 2023 will feature numerous training and project development workshops for young talents, as well as public presentations of documentary film projects at the Beldocs Pitching Forum. Other events include panels, masterclasses, and matchmaking sessions, as well as the Beldocs Market video library. The aim of the event is to create opportunities for participants to develop their skills, connect with industry representatives, and improve the distribution of European audiovisual works.

The Beldocs Pitching Forum is a key feature of the event, showcasing 18 documentary film projects in various stages of development, from development to post-production. These projects will be presented to a group of international industry representatives, including TV channels, festivals, sales agents, and distribution companies. Awards will also be presented to the most outstanding pitches, including the main prize of 2,000 euro, which is sponsored by Al Jazeera Balkans. Other awards include the Networking award of Thessaloniki IDFF Networking Award, East Silver Caravan award provided by Institute of Documentary film, Documentary Association of Europe Encouragement award, and PitchtheDoc platform award. Beldocs Industry Days also offers various workshops, including the Beldocs XR Academy, which focuses on virtual reality and augmented reality projects, and Balkan Young Talents, a program that focuses on promising young filmmakers from the Western Balkans. In addition, there will be industry panels and masterclasses with an emphasis on independent movie theaters and documentary film curating. This year’s main themes include film curation, the value of film reviews, and the survival of independent cinema theaters.
