Doc Services, the organizer of Sunny Side of the Doc, said it will not hold the documentary industry market in 2026, citing the loss of its main European grant, a decline in key financial support, and organizational constraints that it says make it impossible to deliver an event at the level required by today’s global audiovisual sector.

The La Rochelle-based gathering has run for more than 35 years as a co-financing and networking hub for filmmakers, producers, broadcasters, distributors, institutions and cultural partners.

Doc Services said its collaboration with Brazil and Latin America will continue in 2026 alongside the #LatAm Content Meeting. The call for projects remains open until 10 December 2025, ahead of three pitch sessions led by Sunny Side of the Doc from 13–15 April 2026 in São Paulo.

The company described the pause as the end of one cycle and said any potential return—possibly as early as 2027—would depend on a full «reconstruction» developed with the documentary industry. Doc Services added that its team will remain available to respond to professionals’ questions and share updates on next steps.
