goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Film has unveiled a new tranche of programming for its 26th edition, set to run in Wiesbaden from 21 to 27 April 2026, led by a Portrait sidebar dedicated to Romanian producer Ada Solomon.

One of the most internationally prominent producers to emerge from the region, Solomon has amassed more than 80 producing and co-producing credits and has played a key role in the careers of filmmakers including Radu Jude and Ivana Mladenović. The retrospective selection announced by goEast includes Child’s Pose, directed by Călin Peter Netzer, The Distance Between Me and Me, by Dana Bunescu and Mona Nicoară, Cold Waves, by Alexandru Solomon, Mammalia, by Sebastian Mihăilescu, and Radu Jude’s I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians, alongside a shorts programme titled Loss of Control. A public discussion with Solomon is scheduled for 26 April.

The festival is also expanding its youth and family programming under the goKids banner, with Alexandra Bidian’s So Long Since I’ve Known a Spring and Polina Gumiela’s Blue Eyes and Colorful My Dress among the highlighted titles. In the archive section, goEast will screen Sergej Paradžanov’s Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors in a 35mm print from the DFF archive, as well as the restored Estonian feature Colourful Dreams.

A special matinee on 26 April will spotlight Miro Remo’s Better Go Mad in the Wild, tied to Czechia’s role as Guest of Honour at the 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair and accompanied by a reading from Aleš Palán’s source text in German translation.

goEast has also added three further titles to its main competition lineup: Aktan Arym Kubat’s Black Red Yellow, Giedrė Žickytė’s A Goodnight Kiss and Iga Lis’s The Queen and the Smokehouse. The festival’s full programme will be announced in early April, ahead of its press conference on 14 April at Caligari FilmBühne.
