Baltic Sea Docs has opened the call for projects for its 30th edition, with the long-running documentary co-production pitching forum set to take place in Riga, Latvia, from 6 to 11 September 2026.

Applications are open until 6 May 2026, with selected projects to be announced on 4 June. Baltic Sea Docs is open to independent production companies based in the Baltic Sea region, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, while companies from other European countries may also apply if their project has a thematic connection to these regions or includes a regional co-producer. Participation is free of charge, and selected teams will have access to project development support, industry feedback and opportunities for international co-production and financing.

The pitching sessions will be held on 10 and 11 September. Alongside first-time participants, the forum will also include a Coming Soon presentation for up to four projects previously pitched at Baltic Sea Docs and now in post-production. Before the public pitching days, selected teams will take part in a three-day preparatory workshop led by film consultant Tue Steen Müller and documentary developer Mikael Opstrup, with the wider programme also featuring one-on-one meetings, industry seminars, networking events and a curated film programme screening in Riga and in regional towns across Latvia.

Founded in Denmark in 1997 and organised by the National Film Centre of Latvia since 2006, Baltic Sea Docs marks its 30th edition in 2026 as one of the region’s most established documentary industry forums, aimed at supporting the development and international circulation of nonfiction projects from the Baltic Sea region and neighbouring countries.
