Chile will return to Cannes’ #Marché du Film# in 2025 with a substantial presence, including four works-in-progress selected for the Docs-in-Progress Chile Showcase and a wider portfolio of projects spanning traditional and immersive formats. The initiative is part of the #Cannes Docs# section. The Chilean delegation is supported by Chiledoc and CinemaChile, two sector brands operating under a public-private framework that aims to promote national audiovisual content globally.

The four projects featured in the Showcase are Landless Children, directed by René Ballesteros; No Money No Honey, directed by Nicole Costa; The Grand Illusion, directed by Sebastián Pereira; and The Tiger of the East, directed by Jorge Acevedo Carrasco. Each is in the final stages of editing and will be presented to distributors, festival programmers, and other key stakeholders during a dedicated session scheduled for May 19 at the Palais des Festivals.

In addition to the official showcase, a broader selection of over ten Chilean documentary projects will be presented, including completed films and works at various stages of development. Titles include Artifacts of War, Black Cocaine, The Last Witness, The Letelier File, The Capture, Knowing Your Nature, A Troop of Bears, Burning Daddy, The Conference, Dysphoria Football Club, Madame Wittmann’s Criminal Record, and You the Artists.

The range of themes includes #human rights#, political memory, #LGBTIQ+ issues, and immersive storytelling. Notably, producer María José Díaz will also represent Chile at the Cannes Immersive Market, participating in the Curators Network program with the virtual reality project Knowing Your Nature.

The Marché du Film takes place from 13 to 21 May 2025. Chile’s participation marks its fifth consecutive year in the Docs-in-Progress section.
