The 2025 edition of #CPH:DOX concluded with the announcement of its awards. This year’s festival saw 71 films compete across six categories, with 56 world premieres.
Taking home the festival’s top honour, the DOX:AWARD, was Always by Deming Chen, a poetic debut co-produced by the U.S., France, and China. A Special Mention was given to Flophouse America by Monica Strømdahl, a raw and intimate portrait of familial love and hardship in confined spaces.
F:ACT AWARD
The award went to 2000 Meters to Andriivka by Mstyslav Chernov (Ukraine), hailed as a “haunting, multi-layered portrayal of war.”
Special Mention: The Perfect Neighbor by Geeta Gandbhir (U.S.)
HUMAN:RIGHTS AWARD
9-Month Contract by Ketevan Vashagashvili (Georgia, Bulgaria & Germany) won for its portrayal of mother-daughter intimacy amid adversity.
Special Mention: The Encampments by Michael T. Workman & Kei Pritsker (U.S.), a portrait of student activism in the face of oppression.
NORDIC:DOX AWARD
Walls – Akinni Inuk by Nina Paninnguaq Skydsbjerg & Sofie Rørdam (Greenland) won for its stirring and poetic representation of marginal voices.
Special Mention: The Nicest Men on Earth by Josefine Exner & Sebastian Gerdes (Denmark)
NEXT:WAVE AWARD
Abode of Dawn by Kristina Shtubert (Germany) received the award for its meditative take on community, history, and loss.
Special Mention: Who Witnessed the Temples Fall by Lucía Selva (Spain), recognized for its visual magic and thematic depth.
NEW:VISION AWARD
Ramallah, Palestine, December 2018 by Juliette Le Monniyer (Belgium) won for its conceptual rigor and meditative reflection on the act of witnessing.
Special Mention: Scrap by Noémie Lobry (France)
INTER:ACTIVE AWARD
Constantinopoliad by Sister Sylvester & Nadah El Shazly (UK) took the award for its immersive archival storytelling experience.
Special Mention: The Garden Says… by Uri & Michelle Kranot, Sara Topsøe Jensen, Sarah John & Marieke Breyne
Audience Award to Follow
The Audience Award will be announced on April 4, following the online portion of the festival, allowing viewers outside Copenhagen to participate in the voting process.
