Kunsthal Charlottenborg and #CPH:DOX have announced a three-year collaboration aimed at deepening public engagement with #human rights#. The new initiative, dubbed HUMAN:RIGHTS, will leverage film, art, debate, and educational programs to highlight the enduring importance of human rights as defined by the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Since 2017, Kunsthal Charlottenborg has served as a central venue for CPH:DOX, hosting a variety of film screenings, debates, and art installations. Now, with support from partners such as Human Rights Watch Denmark and the newly established Frececo Foundation, the institutions plan to extend their joint programming. The initiative will include a thematic film program, numerous talks, debates, and educational activities designed for school classes. As of December 2024 Nordic survey revealed that while 83% of Danes support human rights, 53% could not name a specific right, underscoring the need for increased public awareness.

A highlight of the HUMAN:RIGHTS program is a solo exhibition by Turkish visual artist #Banu Cennetoğlu#. One key piece, featuring large bouquets of gold, letter-shaped balloons, visually represents selected articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In addition, Kunsthal Charlottenborg will showcase the Disobedience Archive—a video exhibition previously presented at the 2024 Venice Biennale.

The program is set to begin on 19 March 2025, coinciding with the opening of CPH:DOX in Copenhagen.
