Doclisboa closed its 23rd edition on Saturday, 25 October, with an awards ceremony at Culturgest followed by Eugène Green’s The Tree of Knowledge. In the International Competition, the City of Lisbon Award for Best Film went to The Night Is Fading Away / La Noche Está Marchándose Ya by Ezequiel Salinas and Ramiro Sonzini (Argentina). The Doclisboa Jury Award was given to Tell Me a Fairy Tale / Ji min re çîrokek beje by Ebrû Avci (Turkey), while Médecins Sans Frontières – Portugal honoured Isabel Pagliai (France) with the Best Director prize for Fantasy / Fantaisie.
In the Portuguese Competition, Água Mãe by Hiroatsu Suzuki and Rossana Torres won Best Film. The Portuguese Authors’ Society Jury Award went to As Estações / The Seasons by Maureen Fazendeiro, with an honourable mention to Gil, Let’s Explode São Paulo / Explode São Paulo, Gil by Maria Clara Escobar. The School Award — ETIC Award also recognised Escobar’s film, with Complô by João Miller Guerra receiving an honourable mention.
Green Years prizes included the Conserveira de Lisboa Award for Ping Pong by Tianji Yu and the Pedro Fortes Award for Best Director (Portuguese) to Se Eu Não Morresse Nunca! / If I Would Never Die! by David Falcão; I Lit the Fire! by Valeria Lemeshevskaya received an honourable mention. New Talent – Best First Feature went to Under the Flags, the Sun / Bajo las Banderas, el Sol by Juanjo Pereira (Paraguay), with an honourable mention to Do You Love Me by Lana Daher. Hassen Ferhani’s Baumettes Studio / Studio Baumettes won Best Short (up to 40’), and Sarah Vanagt’s Wishful Filming took the Healthy Workplaces Film Award. Audience awards went to Aurora (Legal Partners Rights and Freedoms) and Punch for Punch (TVCine Channels).
Arché prizes were announced at Casa do Comum, celebrating Ibero-American projects. Doclisboa reported around 20,000 spectators and paid tribute to the late Patrícia Saramago. Award-winning films screen 27–29 October at Cinema Ideal. The festival returns 15–25 October 2026, with #Greece as the guest country.
