In a collaboration with UnionDocs Center for Documentary Art, the Doclisboa Filmmaking Seminar* is back at the 2021 edition of Nebulae. The seminar’s goal is to explore radical filmmaking practices and the expanding languages of documentary cinema, highlighting the soon-to-be-announced recipients of the 2022 UNDO Fellowship.
From October 23rd to 26th, morning screenings will be followed by afternoon dialogues, each led by a different scholar or writer, and each engaging a discrete question of representation that is at the center of the fellow’s yearlong research. Participants will immerse themselves in these provocative inquiries, deeply considering the complex films of formally adventurous documentary artists, and will be encouraged to share their ideas, experiences, and perspectives in breakout groups, roundtable discussions, and short creative exercises.
The call for applications is open through October 1st, 2021. To apply, find the online form available – HERE
* The seminar will be held in a hybrid format in person at the festival and online and in English, with no translation.
