Docu Talents from the East announces 2023 winners

The Sarajevo Film Festival’s CineLink Industry Days recently unveiled a selection of documentaries set for theatrical release within the next year as part of the Ji.hlava IDFF Docu Talents From the East programme. These eight films, hailing from Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine, collectively showcased the cinematic brilliance of Central and Eastern Europe.

The coveted Docu Talent Award took the spotlight, honouring the most promising projects. The distinction was shared between two endeavours: A Picture to Remember by Ukrainian director Olga Chernykh, produced by Regina Maryanovska-Davidzon, and the Czech-Slovak co-production Chronicle by Martin Kollar. The recognition came hand-in-hand with a generous financial prize of 5,000 USD in collaboration with Current Time TV.

Further acclaim was bestowed upon An Almost Perfect Family directed by Tudor Platon from Romania, produced by Carla Fotea and Ada Solomon. This documentary secured the 3,000 EUR in-kind DAFilms.com Distribution Award, guaranteeing its international VOD release on DAFilms.com for the next two years.
