DokuFest 2025 unveils full competition lineup with record submissions

Written by:

DokuFest, Kosovo’s leading documentary and short film festival, has officially announced the full competition slate for its 22nd edition, taking place from August 4 to 12 in the historic city of Prizren. This year, the festival received a record-breaking 3,481 film submissions from 111 countries—a 22% increase from 2024.

A total of 104 films have been selected across eight competitive sections, many of which will enjoy their World, International, or European premieres. The lineup spans both documentary and narrative short films, reaffirming the festival’s reputation as a crucial launchpad for emerging and established voices in the region and beyond.

Additional programme announcements are expected in the coming days, including the festival’s central theme, its signature View From the World section, a Country in Focus program, and an array of curated events. These will include masterclasses, panel discussions, a kids’ program, and the festival’s iconic late-night music performances.

With screenings and events spread across Prizren’s atmospheric old town and the ITP creative hub, DokuFest 2025 promises another year of boundary-pushing cinema and cultural exchange at the heart of the Balkans.
