East Doc Platform has unveiled the full selection for its 2026 edition, set to run from 19 to 25 March at the French Institute in Prague. Organised by the Institute of Documentary Film, the platform brings together 40 documentary projects from more than 20 countries. The programme once again confirms the platform’s role as one of Central and Eastern Europe’s key meeting points for nonfiction development, co-production and industry exchange. This year’s theme, «Afterimages,» frames a selection shaped by the residues of war, migration, repression and personal rupture, asking what remains after political violence, social fracture and family upheaval.
The program is divided across East Doc Forum, East Doc Market and Czech Docs: Coming Soon. East Doc Forum will present 21 feature documentaries and docuseries, including 14 projects developed through Ex Oriente Film, with public pitches set for 24 March at Kino 35. Among the projects are films grappling with war and political repression, such as Crossing Oxus, Rojava, My Love and Not so far away places, while titles including Metanoia, Two of Us, Stitch by Stitch, Home Is a Dollhouse, and The Enchantress widen the selection’s focus toward identity, belonging and personal history. The Forum’s five docuseries include Hijacked Life, Justice as Legalised Terror and World Divided, extending these concerns into serialised form.
Czech Docs: Coming Soon will showcase five national productions, while East Doc Market will host curated meetings around rough cuts, completed works and projects in development. Titles such as 80 Angry Journalists, Letters, Hide Me in the Light, Raid, Berliner, Caretakers, Kind of Adults and nava mama point to a lineup attentive to exile, precarity, generational change and structural violence.
A total of 13 awards will be presented, including the Silver Eye Award, HBO Award and Docs Up Fund Award, alongside opportunities linked to DOK Leipzig, Baltic Sea Docs and Sheffield DocFest. More than a showcase, East Doc Platform continues to function as an infrastructure for documentary cinema in motion.
