The #MajorDocs documentary film festival returns to Mallorca from 25-29 November 2025, with a focus on sound design and storytelling. Renowned French filmmaker #Claire Simon# will grace the event as Guest of Honour, sharing insights into her radically human creative approach through a masterclass. Her work, known for careful observation and exploration of intimacy, desire, and vulnerability, emphasises listening as an essential filmmaking tool.

The festival will be inaugurated by a bespoke sound performance titled Untitled, Nameless, Nail-less, presented by sound artist Xabier Erkizia and innovative ex-flamenco singer Niño de Elche. Known for collaborations blending traditional sounds with contemporary experimentation.

Professional DocSessions hosted by sound experts Erkizia, multiple Goya Award winner Eva Valiño, and Verónica Font will lead participants through the narrative potential of sound—capturing atmospheres, sculpting soundscapes, and using silence creatively.

Philosopher Lola López Mondéjar will address digital culture’s impact on creativity in her masterclass titled Mass Production: Mickey 17 and the Stunting of Creative Skills, while Erkizia’s session, Sounding Cinema: A Geographical Matter, will delve into sound’s interaction with physical spaces.

The festival continues its support for emerging talent through its Pitch and Mentoring programs. The Pitch session invites five promising non-fiction filmmakers to present their projects to industry professionals, and the Mentoring programme collaborates with OFF ESCAC, culminating in awards judged by Balearic jury members.
