MDOC – Melgaço International Documentary Film Festival 2022: the complete winners

The 2022 MDOC – Melgaço International Documentary Film Festival has drawn to a close with its Jean-Loup Passek and D. Quixote Award awards presented. The awards in the Best Documenray category were presented by a ury consisting of Aida Vallejo, Anna Huth, Carlos Natálio, Juan Pablo Gonzalez, and Marion Schmidt. While the International Federation of Film Clubs-given D. Quixote Award was presented by a jury consisting of Manuela Lucchesu, Margarida Mateus, and Ponnam Ravichandra.

MDOC – Melgaço International Documentary Film Festival took place from 1 to 7 August with the aim to promote and disseminate documentary films and contribute to an audiovisual archive on three anchor axes for reflection – border, memory and identity.

  • Best Feature Length Film (Jean-Loup Passek Award): Four Seasons in a Day (dir. Annabel Verbeke) – Belgium
  • Best Short or Medium Length Film (Jean-Loup Passek Award): Subtotals (dir. Mohammadreza Farzad) – Poland
  • Special Mention (Short or Medium Length) (Jean-Loup Passek Award): In Flow of Words (dir. Eliane Esther Bots) – Netherlands
  • Best Portuguese Documentary (Jean-Loup Passek Award): No Táxi Do Jack (dir. Susana Nobre) – Portugal
  • Best Feature Length Film (D. Quijote Award): Heza (dir. Derya Deniz) – Iraq
  • Best Short or Medium Length Film (D. Quixote Award): In Flow of Words (dir. Eliane Esther Bots) – Netherlands
  • Best Film Poster: Comezainas (Mafalda Salgueiro)
  • Special Mention (Best Film Poster): Sycorax (Dani Sanchis)
