Mnemonica marks 10 years with launch of «living» archive for digital cinema

A decade after setting out to «preserve and remember» in the shift from film to data, Rome-based Mnemonica says its cloud platform has become a single point of reference for managing the full lifecycle of films and TV series—linking production, post and long-term preservation while tackling the industry’s chronic data-loss risks. The company positions its service as a corrective to fragmented workflows, makeshift archives and isolated drives that leave digital assets vulnerable.

Built as a «living ecosystem of digital cinema», Mnemonica integrates three core functions—secure streaming, two-way file transfer and long-term archiving—alongside review and approval, encoding automation, watermarking, distribution tools, audience management and usage monitoring, all accessible on desktop and mobile. The platform is designed to connect departments in real time and centralize data logistics from pre-production through final preservation.

Founded in 2015 by practitioners from the creative sector, Mnemonica reports backing roughly a thousand productions, including titles distributed by #Netflix, Prime Video, HBO, Sky and Paramount+. Since 2022, it has served as the Venice International Film Festival’s official platform for submissions and evaluations.

The company’s newest module, #Mnemonica Archive#, reframes archiving as an active, value-preserving process: original masters remain accessible and ready for new deliveries, derivative versions or redistributions, with safeguards against loss and damage. Archive debuted at London’s Media Production & Technology Show in May and is being officially presented at Rome’s #MIA Market# (6–10 October 2025).

Mnemonica’s 2025–2026 strategy centers on consolidating in Italy—expanding into education, research, public archives and cultural institutions—while accelerating international growth in the UK, France, Spain and Germany. The firm is also the first Italian company to win Creative Europe funding under «Innovative Tools and Business Models», recognition of its role in safeguarding Europe’s screen heritage.
