Krakow Film Festival 2024

Nordisk Panorama announces full 2023 competition programme

The 34th edition of the Nordisk Panorama (21 – 26 September) festival is poised to enchant audiences from September 21st to 26th, offering an engaging lineup of 64 films spanning five competition categories (Nordic Documentary, Nordic Short Film, New Nordic Voice, Young Nordic, City of Malmö Audience Award). With a total of 25,000€ in awards up for grabs, this festival promises to be a celebration of impactful storytelling.

Commencing at Cinema Panora on 21 September, the festival will open with a double feature presentation. The Gullspång Miracle, directed by Maria Fredriksson, is a documentary that delves into an extraordinary family reunion taking an unexpected and bewildering turn. This true-to-life tale takes viewers on a journey through twists and turns that seem stranger than fiction. On the same night, Fár, directed by Gunnur Martinsdóttir Schlüter, a short fiction film, will grace the screen. This film intricately navigates the transformation of a mundane business meeting into a riveting moral predicament, promising a thought-provoking viewing experience.

As part of the festival’s spirit of inclusivity, all 64 competition titles are vying for the City of Malmö’s Audience Award. This prestigious accolade, accompanied by a cash award of 2,500€, is generously sponsored by the City of Malmö. As the name implies, this award is determined solely by the film that garners the highest acclaim from the festival’s attendees.

Across competitions, titles such as Apolonia, Apolonia dir. Lea Glob), Motherland (dir. Alexander Mihalkovich, Hanna Badziaka), Songs of the Earth (dir. Margreth Olin), and Theatre of Violence will feature.
