Porto/Post/Doc launches Critics Lab for 10th festival

The 10th edition of Porto/Post/Doc presents an exciting opportunity for passionate emerging writers in the realm of film. Critics Lab, a flagship event, aims to support and nurture a new generation of talented film critics. By encouraging participation and innovative approaches in cinema writing, the lab promises to be an enriching experience for all participants.

During the festival days, Critics Lab will immerse participants in discussions and panels led by established film critics and filmmakers. This unique setup allows aspiring writers to delve into a world of ideas, enriching their perspectives and honing their critical thinking skills. Interacting with experienced professionals will undoubtedly shape their journey as adept critics.

The selection process involves an open call for candidates from various disciplines. Whether with a passion for film or other arts, the key requirement is an ardent curiosity to learn and reflect critically on cinema. The goal is to welcome young talents with a genuine zeal for the art of critique.

Under the expert guidance of Christopher Small and Ricardo Vieira Lisboa, along with critics Ella Bittencourt, Leo Goldsmith, and Olivia Cooper-Hadjian, participants will gain invaluable insights and knowledge.

Key dates for the lab include the open call from 25th July 2023 to 31st August 2023, with results announced on 18th September 2023. The lab itself will run from 18th to 25th November, with selected participants required to attend the festival in person. The festival offers accommodation, accreditation for official screenings, and access to meetings, workshops, and networking events organized by Critics Lab.
