Porto/Post/Doc 2024 is set to celebrate the influential work of Georgian filmmaker Salomé Jashi in its upcoming 11th edition. Born in Tbilisi in 1981, Jashi’s career began in journalism before she transitioned to documentary filmmaking with a British Council scholarship to study at Royal Holloway, University of London. She founded Sakdoc Film and Microcosmos, production companies renowned for their compelling documentaries and fiction films.
Jashi’s oeuvre meticulously examines Georgia’s socio-political landscape, capturing the evolving dynamics of her homeland with a blend of observational rigour and surrealistic nuance. This year’s festival will showcase a curated selection of Jashi’s work, including five short films and three feature-length pieces, offering an in-depth look at her cinematic contributions.
In parallel, the festival is issuing a final call for applications for its Industry activities. This segment aims to foster collaboration and support for national and international film projects. Highlights for 2024 include Industry Screenings, co-production meetings involving Portugal, Spain, and France, the Luso-Galician Forum, the Arché Porto Writing and Development Lab, and the Working Class Heroes Grant.
