Sunny Side of the Doc has unveiled the official Pitch Selection for its 32nd edition, as well as the shortlisted XR experiences for the 5th edition of the for creative storytelling and digital cultures meeting point PiXii Festival. Around the central theme StorytellingMatters, these projects are stories which affect our planet, shake our convictions and incite change for the future.
By shining the spotlight on diversity, independent voices and creativity, Sunny Side of the Doc presents 42 projects representing 18 different countries, each of which stand out due to their originality, international potential, and continuous search for new ways of storytelling. They will each be presented during six themed sessions and tailored one-to-one meetings with support from Sunny Side of the Doc partners.

For its 5th edition, PiXii Festival continues to drive networking, co-creation, and collaboration between professionals from the creative and cultural industries around XR. An eclectic selection of seven XR films (360, 3 DoF and 6 Dof) as well as a podcast/vodcast series will be available from 7th to 30th June via a dedicated video library.

In 2021, it is more important than ever to recognise the contribution made by talented documentary makers, and to continue advocating for diversity and inclusion on and off the screen. With this goal in mind, Netflix and Sunny Side of the Doc have collaborated on the «New Voices Award». This new award celebrates up-and-coming voices bringing new perspectives through the storytelling lens.
