The 9th edition of Verzió DocLab is rapidly approaching its application deadline. Filmmakers have until 9 September to submit their projects for this year’s workshop, which offers a rare opportunity for first- and second-time directors to receive professional support and network within the documentary filmmaking community. This year’s workshop welcomes projects from directors and producers across Europe, including special invitations for filmmakers from Ukraine and Georgia.
Verzió DocLab, organized as part of the Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival# in Budapest, remains a pivotal initiative for the region’s independent filmmakers, who often struggle with inadequate funding and limited development opportunities. Participation in the workshop is free, and selected filmmakers will also receive accreditation for the entire festival.
This year’s DocLab is particularly notable for the inclusion of two new awards sponsored by Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO, alongside the creators of the acclaimed documentary series On the Spot.
