The 8th edition of Young Horizons Industry, an international co-production forum dedicated to films and series for young audiences, is set to take place from 30 September to 2 October 2024, at the Kinoteka Cinema in Warsaw and online.
Out of 21 projects in various stages of development, four documentaries—three films and one series—will be pitched to industry experts and potential co-producers. These projects were carefully selected by a panel of industry professionals, including Fiona van Heemstra, a prominent screenwriter from the Netherlands, and Moritz Hemminger, Head of Sales & Acquisitions at The Playmaker in Germany.
Selected Documentaries
- “Little Big Ones” – An animated documentary series by Czech Television (Czech Republic) that delves into the profound thoughts and feelings of children.
- “The Mystery Package” – A documentary film by A5 Film (Norway), exploring the curiosity and imagination of young minds as they uncover the secrets behind a mysterious parcel.
- “Animals of the East” – A work-in-progress documentary film by Admiral Films (Slovakia) focusing on the diverse and fascinating wildlife of Eastern Europe.
- “Ghetto Classic” – A documentary film by Dynamo Film (Poland/Spain) that portrays the lives of young musicians from marginalized communities, highlighting their journey through music.
These projects will be presented during an on-stage pitching session on 1 October in Warsaw, with live streaming available for online attendees.
In addition to the documentary pitches, the forum will host various industry sessions, including a conference curated by Viola Gabrielli on how technological innovations are reshaping the creative process and business models in the film industry. Over 300 industry professionals are expected to attend, representing leading companies such as BBC, SC Films International, and BNNVARA.
