Visions du Réel will co-present (along with L’Atelier) a special all-new exhibition conceived by Jean-Luc Godard at Château de Nyon, 12 June – 13 September 2020.

The event, sentiments, signes, passions. à propos du livre d’image is a companion to the French-Swiss filmmaker’s latest film The Image Book. The film is a cinematographical political poem weaving together images borrowed from the memory of film.

The exhibition covers the cutting of the film in six parts. It draws from the heritage of Henri Langlois whose film museum mixed media into a physical form of editing. In this tradition, sentiments, signes, passions. à propos du livre d’image further deconstructs The Image Book, disrupting its linear format and creating a new visual language. Spread across several rooms of the Château de Nyon, these reinterpreted chapters thus create a unique experience for each spectator
