The 23rd #WATCH DOCS# International Film Festival celebrated 20 Days in Mariupol by Mstyslav Chernov as its winning film. Lauded for its impactful portrayal of Russia’s war crimes in Mariupol, the film transcends journalism, bringing crucial awareness to global audiences.

Motherland by Hanna Badziaka and Alexandr Mihalkovich received a Special Mention for its poignant depiction of Belarusian resilience amidst conflict.

The Green Dog Award was awarded to Lonely Oaks by Fabiana Fragale, Kilian Kuhlendahl, and Jens Muehlhoff, recognised for its exploration of activism and community in the Hambach Forest.

Frederik Subei’s This is Our Everything earned a Special Mention in the Green Dog Competition, highlighting an indigenous community’s dedication to environmental protection.

The festival underscored the power of documentary filmmaking in illuminating pressing global issues and advocating for justice.
