Greek screen-sector institutions are preparing to launch «Filmography», a new digital reference platform designed to centralise documentation on Greek cinema and improve access for programmers, researchers, and industry stakeholders. The database, hosted at filmography.gr, is being developed by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TIFF), the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center S.A. (HFAC), and the Hellenic Film Academy (HFA), with public release planned for after Easter 2026.

The project will be introduced to the public on Friday, 13 March, during a one-day event at the 28th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, aligning with TIFF’s programming focus on archives. TIFF’s magazine First Shot will also publish an issue dedicated to the initiative.

Filmography’s initial release will cover 2,016 films (including 1,564 features and 451 shorts), with entries spanning fiction, documentary, experimental, and animation across multiple eras and genres. Each title page is structured around production and technical data, distribution and rights information, synopses, English-language keyword tags, festival participations, and materials such as photographs, posters, flyers, trailers, and other archival assets where available. The platform is positioned as a discovery and rights-tracing tool rather than a streaming service, with contact details intended to help locate prints or copies.

A key component is a slate of 30 original interviews recorded from April 2025 onward with filmmakers and below-the-line contributors, alongside four previously published interview records. The platform is being built to meet accessibility requirements and will be available in Greek and English.
