CIRCLE Doc Accelerator has selected ten projects for its 2026–2027 edition, bringing filmmakers from Syria, Germany, Denmark, Malaysia, Romania, Slovenia, Thailand, Ukraine, and Georgia into its development programme for women and gender-expansive documentary professionals.

The three-module cycle opened on 22 June in Edipsos, Greece, with a session centred on creative development and project analysis. It continues in Portorož, Slovenia, in October, in partnership with the Slovenian Film Centre, before concluding at When East Meets West in Trieste in January 2027, where participants will present their work to potential partners and decision-makers.

The selected projects are Rama Abdy’s House No. 7, Sophie Ataya’s Who We Are, Sara Geurtsen and Areeb Zuaiter’s Sanctuary, Ida Grøn’s The Inner Whale In My Ear, Beatrice Leong’s The Myth of Monsters, Diana-Elena Munteanu’s The Digs, Maja Prettner’s Chasing Horses, Piano Primrin’s A Journey to the Universe, Marta Smerechynska’s Call Me from the Frontline and Dea Tcholokava’s Song to an Emerald Sky.

Mentors for the edition include Diana El Jeiroudi, Salomé Jashi, Gianluca Matarrese and producer and documentary consultant Lucila Moctezuma. Programme director Biljana Tutorov said the selection considered how the participants’ projects and experiences could «echo and support one another», describing solidarity and collaboration as central to CIRCLE’s working model.
