The 2025 #CinemAmbiente Film Festival, set to run from 5 to 10 June in Turin, Italy, will showcase over 100 films addressing pressing environmental issues. The festival opens with a screening of Wonders of the Sea (1922), accompanied by a live performance from Italian pop-rock band Perturbazione. This pioneering underwater film aligns with themes of the upcoming UN Ocean Conference in Nice.

The festival’s program includes competitive categories for international features and shorts, as well as non-competitive sections like «Panorama» and «Made in Italy.» This year, the International Panorama is subdivided into three focus areas: the environmental impact of war, dystopian visions in contemporary environmental cinema, and human-wildlife coexistence amid increasing anthropisation.

The closing film, 2073, directed by Oscar-winner Asif Kapadia, explores future challenges such as #climate change#, #authoritarianism, and social #inequality. Documentary selections include Robin Petre’s Only on Earth and Natalia Pietsch and Grzegorz Piekarski’s The Town That Drove Away.

Beyond film screenings, CinemAmbiente 2025 offers a range of events including panel discussions, artistic installations, and immersive performances like «Drowned Paradise,» Topics such as recycling kitchen waste, science communication, green jobs, and Piedmont’s ecomuseums will be explored, aiming to promote environmental awareness and social change.
