In an exploration of the evolving relationship between the #human body# and immersive technologies, #CPH:DOX has announced the lineup for this year’s INTER:ACTIVE Exhibition, titled Who Do You Think You Are: The Body Reexamined. Curated by #Mark Atkin#, the exhibition is set to take place from 13 – 24 March, 2024, at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, diving deep into the dialogue between our physical selves and digital innovations.
This year’s exhibition features 17 diverse pieces spanning #VR, #mixed reality#, and #AI chatbots, all competing for a new award recognising the best in immersive work. The theme Who Do You Think You Are: The Body Reexamined aims to dissect and expand upon our perceptions, interactions, and experiences with our bodies in a digitally dominated era.
The exhibit includes the Hybrid Bodies section, featuring works like Cecilie Waagner Falkenstrøm’s I SEE IT, SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO and Nouf Aljowaysir’s WHERE AM I FROM?, which delve into the intricacies of AI and its impact on #identity and #labour dynamics. Dystopian Bodies presents speculative narratives on the future, with works like THE PATHOGEN OF WAR exploring antibiotic resistance and its connections to warfare.
Unbounded Bodies challenges societal norms through pieces like Matt McCorkle’s ANTIPSYCHOTIC and Rebecca Merlic’s GLITCHBODIES, celebrating diversity and challenging perceptions of identity. The section Entangled Bodies visualises our connection to #nature, advocating for a harmonious coexistence through works like GARDEN OF GHOST FLOWERS – THE EMBODIMENT ARCHIVE by Untold Garden & Lundahl & Seitl.
The INTER:ACTIVE Exhibition Vernissage is scheduled for 17 March, offering a unique opportunity to meet the artists behind these thought-provoking works. The new award for best immersive work will be presented at CPH:DOX’s Award Ceremony on 22 March, 2024, at Social Cinema.
