CPH:DOX has unveiled the official competition lineup for its 22nd edition, set to take place from 19–30 March 2025. The competition sections will feature 71 films in competition, including 56 world premieres, 12 international premieres, and 3 European premieres.
The festival’s centerpiece, the DOX:AWARD, exclusively features world premieres. Among the nominees is Sanatorium, an Irish-Ukrainian-French production by Gar O’Rourke, The Father, The Sons and The Holy Spirit by Danish filmmaker Christian Sønderby Jepsen, and Facing War by Norway’s Tommy Gulliksen. Other notable entries include The Castle by Danny Biancardi, Virginia Nardelli, and Stefano Giuseppe La Rosa, and Always by Deming Chen.
In the NEW:VISION Award category, which highlights experimental works, Time Paradox by Minha Park and Scrap by Noémie Lobry. Other standout films include Illiyeen by Eliyah Mesayer and Melted into the Sun by Saodat Ismailova.
The NEXT:WAVE Award, dedicated to emerging filmmakers, features Copan by Carine Wallauer, I am Night at Noonday by Gaspard Hirschi, and Fantastic Family by Nicoline Skotte. Also competing is Open Call by Sille Storihle and Red Forest by Laurie Lassalle.
In the NORDIC:DOX Award category, The Ground Beneath Our Feet by Yrsa Roca Fannberg explores survival in extreme environments, while Witch by Emil Nørgaard Munk examines Scandinavian folklore. Other contenders include Zlatan’s Nose by Nils Toftenow and Portrait of a Confused Father by Gunnar Hall Jensen.
The F:ACT Award, which merges documentary filmmaking with investigative journalism, features The Eukrainian by Viktor Nordenskiöld, Predators by David Osit, and The End of the Internet by Dylan Reibling. Other nominees include The Perfect Neighbor by Geeta Gandbhir and Antidote by James Jones.
The HUMAN:RIGHTS Award highlights urgent social justice issues. Among the contenders is Little Syria by Madalina Rosca, Matabeleland by Nyasha Kadandara, and The Dialogue Police by Susanna Edwards. Other nominees include The Encampments by Michael T. Workman and The Lions By The River Tigris by Zaradasht Ahmed.
In addition to these juried categories, the Audience Award, carrying a €10,000 prize, allows festival attendees to vote for their favorite film.
