CPH:DOX has revealed the nine immersive documentary projects selected for its talent development programme, CPH:LAB. The programme, running from September 2024 to February 2025, brings together 19 participants from 11 countries, fostering innovative storytelling through immersive technologies.
CPH:LAB is dedicated to redefining documentary filmmaking in the digital age, encouraging artists to explore interactive and immersive media. The programme will culminate in March 2025 at CPH:DOX, where the participants will showcase their project prototypes.
The programme includes both onsite and online workshops led by esteemed mentors from the creative industries, aiming to equip participants with the tools to craft their immersive documentaries. This year’s projects address a wide range of global issues, spanning culture, politics, and society.
The nine projects selected for CPH:LAB 2024/2025 include:
- Futuristic Pagan: Exploring the Cosmos (Zimbabwe/UK) by Chipo Mapondera and Sabina Mutsvati
- TUNER (France/Denmark) by Omid Zarei and Anne Jeppesen
- LE CHIFFRE 2 (France) by Lucien Pin, Thibault Elie, and Alex Haugmard
- Midsummernight X (France/Germany) by Elena Lyubarskaya and David Steiner
- Necessary Tomorrows – The Education of Ursula (Canada) by Brett Gaylor and Cianna Dawn
- Cripping Up VR (UK) by Meg Fozzard and Amy Crighton
- Dioramas of the Unused (Hungary/Italy/Denmark) by Eszter Várhidi and Francesca Tremulo
- Not so far away places (Guatemala/Georgia/Germany) by Renato Borrayo Serrano and Julia Vishnevets
- Scratching the Surface (Poland/Germany) by Alexander Mettin and Wiktor Filip Gacparski
