A new digital platform, Docthinks, has been launched to provide resources and networking opportunities for professionals, students, and enthusiasts in the documentary film sector. Developed by the production companies El Obrador and Mosaic, the platform aims to democratize access to industry knowledge and foster connections across the global documentary community.

Platform Features and Profiles

Docthinks combines educational content with networking capabilities to address the needs of its audience. The platform offers a wide array of interviews with established professionals (i.e.Lynne Sachs, Andrés Duque, Leandro Listorti) , as well as structured learning materials designed to support emerging filmmakers. Users can select from three subscription tiers:

  • Free Profile: Includes access to interviews with experienced documentary filmmakers, offering insights into their creative processes and industry practices.
  • Academic Profile: Geared towards students and early-career professionals, this subscription provides pedagogical resources such as thematic chapters and guided itineraries.
  • PRO Profile: Designed for industry professionals, this tier incorporates all available features, with additional tools for showcasing projects and connecting with other professionals.

A Resource for a Growing Industry

As interest in documentary film continues to grow worldwide, Docthinks positions itself as a valuable tool for accessing exclusive content, learning from industry leaders, and establishing professional networks. By combining knowledge-sharing with opportunities for collaboration, the platform seeks to contribute to the development of a dynamic, interconnected documentary film community.

Docthinks was officially introduced at #MAJORDOCS in October, where it was presented to industry professionals as part of the festival’s program.

The project is supported by funding from the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Institute of Cultural Industries of the Balearic Islands, and the European Union, highlighting its significance in the cultural and creative sectors.

With its emphasis on accessibility, education, and networking, Docthinks has the potential to become a key resource for individuals and organizations involved in documentary filmmaking. More information about the platform can be found at www.docthinks.com.
