In view of the continuing uncertainty of the #COVID-19 pandemic, DOK.fest München has shifted its 2021 festival plans. Originally scheduled as a hybrid event, the 36th edition of the festival will now take place entirely online. Like last year, there will be an extended DOK.fest München @home which runs through 23 May.

The DOK.fest München 2021 programme features some 130 of the year’s best international documentaries, as well as its four major competitions. The guest country series DOK.guest focuses on Canada, showing that country’s society away from the political headlines. In its retrospective, celebrate five decades of DEFA documentary film and with the homage to Czech director Helena Třeštíková. Aside from the screenings, the DOK.fest München industry platform DOK.forum @home offers case studies, workshops, panels and a marketplace that brings together filmmakers and decision-makers from German-speaking countries – live and online.

The festival programme and advance ticket sales will be available from April 2021.
