DOK.forum, the industry platform of #DOK.fest München#, returns from 7 to 11 May with a programme emphasising new technologies, narrative trends, and international co-production opportunities. Taking place at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), the event is structured around two main pillars: DOK.forum Perspectives and the DOK.forum Marketplace.

DOK.forum Perspectives will explore key industry topics through its Perspectives Talks, including the impact of AI and XR on documentary storytelling and future career paths in the film industry. Highlights include an Adobe masterclass on AI-driven editing tools, a workshop on employment in the festival sector in collaboration with AG Filmfestival, and the Industry Training Talks, which will address emerging non-fiction formats and new strategies in audience development and distribution.

The DOK.forum Marketplace, meanwhile, will showcase 44 selected documentary projects—more than ever before—offering filmmakers a platform to connect with potential co-producers and distributors. Events include the Master’s Pitch for projects seeking international partners and a focus on the Baltics, featuring six projects from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Additional programming includes a BIPOC EURODOC think tank on ethics in co-production and the introduction of new awards, such as the Baltic Sea Doc Award and the Impronta Films Award.

For the first time, the DOK.digital Award, celebrating innovative narrative formats, will be integrated into the Marketplace, with a €2,500 prize supported by the Bayerische Landeszentrale für neue Medien.
