Olomouc, Czech Republic, hosts the dok.incubator workshop from 22 to 30 June, gathering over 100 professionals from across the globe. This year’s event promises an exclusive platform for festival programmers, sales agents, and broadcasters to preview international documentaries in progress and select the best candidates for their respective competitions.
Key industry figures, including Marie Erbs Ørbæk (CPH:DOX), Stephanie Owens (Sundance), Sarah Dawson (IDFA), Emmanuel Chicon (Visions du Réel), Anna Petrus (DocsBarcelona), and Yorgos Krassakopoulos (Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival), will attend the workshop. They will be joined by sales agents from CAT&Docs, Cinephil, and Rise And Shine, as well as broadcasters from Al Jazeera and POV.
Participants will benefit from open sessions on contemporary distribution strategies, marketing film campaigns, and insights into the documentary industry. These sessions will provide guidance on planning effective film strategies, focusing on the perspectives of both sales agents and festival programmers.
Additionally, all key stakeholders will participate in discussions with filmmakers from teams selected for the international, Czech, and Slovak dok.incubator workshops, as well as those from nine films featured in the dok.connect program. This year, dok.incubator has expanded to include a co-production forum, a significant networking venue primarily for producers from the Visegrad countries. The event will unite 20 producers with post-production firms and funding organizations, aiming to cultivate promising partnerships and future collaborations.
Founded in 2010, dok.incubator aims to support documentary filmmaking through an intensive eight-month rough-cut workshop, guiding creative teams to finalize strong dramaturgy and develop effective distribution strategies. This initiative has successfully placed films in festivals like Sundance, IDFA, and CPH:DOX.
