The Ex Oriente Series 2024 has officially commenced its first session at Sunny Side of the Doc in La Rochelle, France. This marks the second year of the programme dedicated to nurturing innovative docuseries projects from Central and Eastern Europe.

Running from Sunday, 23 June to Tuesday, 25 June, the session is led by the acclaimed creative producer #Ruth Reid#. Known for her impactful contributions to the documentary, Reid’s guidance is set to be instrumental for the six selected projects in their developmental phase. Her involvement promises invaluable insights and strategic direction for the participating filmmakers. Joining Reid are guest tutors #Chris Westendorp#, #Catherine Chevassu#, #Malin Hüber#, and #Samuel Joyce#, each bringing a wealth of expertise and unique perspectives.

The second year of the Ex Oriente Series aims to build on the successes of its inaugural year, supporting and elevating documentary filmmakers. By fostering a collaborative and nurturing atmosphere, the program aspires to inspire and guide the next generation of docuseries creators.

Sunny Side of the Doc accredited delegates can also engage in the Ex Oriente Series Open Program, hosted at the University of La Rochelle. This program features workshops and masterclasses led by the esteemed tutors, providing a unique educational opportunity for all attendees.
