Krakow Film Festival reveals new international titles and visual identity

The Krakow Film Festival has revealed a further pair of international documentary competition titles while also rolling out a new visual identity that sharpens the event’s long-running INSIDER positioning.

On the programming side, the newly announced films are Bipuljit Basu’s Redlight to Limelight and Michal Kosakowski’s Holofiction, two works that approach cinema as both subject and method. Basu’s film follows the Kolkata-based amateur collective CAM ON, founded in a brothel district where filmmaking becomes not just creative expression but a route out of social exclusion. In contrast, Kosakowski’s Holofiction takes the form of an archival video essay, assembling thousands of fragments from films about World War II and the Holocaust into a meditation on how cinema shapes collective memory.

Together, the titles suggest a strong self-reflexive current within this year’s international selection, framing film as both a transformative social tool and a machine for producing historical consciousness. They join previously announced competition titles including The Arctic Circle of Lust, The Fabulous Time Machine and Silent Flood.

At the branding level, Krakow has introduced a new visual identity developed with Kraków studio Weird Gentlemen, rooted once again in the INSIDER concept that has defined the festival since 2022. Festival director Barbara Orlicz-Szczypuła said the use of film stills is intended to spark curiosity and invite audiences «into the heart of the stories,» while artistic director Anita Piotrowska described the vivid blue palette and travel motif as an open invitation to discover new places, characters and aesthetics through cinema.
