MajorDocs has announced the winners of its seventh edition, with jury honors shared for the first time in the festival’s history.

The MajorDocs main jury—philosopher Lola López Mondejar, filmmaker Ben Rivers, and sound artist Philippe Ciompi—awarded its top prize *ex aequo* to two documentaries: Songs of Slow Burning Earth by Olha Zhurba and Al Oeste, en Zapata by David Bim. The jury prize totals €1,500, which will be split between the two filmmakers.

The jury cited Songs of Slow Burning Earth for documenting war «without sensationalism,» focusing on «the margins of war,» its less visible consequences, and the constrained realities people must navigate. It also praised the film’s «sober and reserved cinematography.» For Al Oeste, en Zapata, the jury highlighted its portrayal of poverty as «universal as humanity itself,» and noted the film’s enduring images and emphasis on how «love and tenderness prevail in a hostile environment.»

The festival’s audience award went to Deuses de Pedra by Iván Castiñeiras.

In the Mentorias MajorDocs short-film strand, competing for a prize sponsored by FOTO RUANO PRO, a separate jury—Balearic filmmakers Constança Amengual, Joan Bover, and Xavi Herrero—selected Vida Injusta by Amaro Seoane as the winner, praising its carefully constructed narrative and intimate realism. A special mention was awarded to Feix by Antoni Guiscafrè for the coherence of its contemplative, observational approach.

Industry awards, granting access to partner-festival industry programs, were also announced. La Massa by Carlotta Napoletano won the Festival dei Popoli award. The Cinéma du Réel award went to two projects: Echoes by Anna Dziapshipa and Ese lugar inexistente by Alejandro Pérez and Alejandro Alonso. Rita by Gailé Garnelyté received the Beldocs award, while Más que una casa (More than a house) by Amaia Aldamiz won the DOCMA distribution award.
