Danish documentarian Mette Hoffmann Meyer to receive honorary Emmy

Renowned Danish documentary producer and founder of THE WHY Foundation, Mette Hoffmann Meyer, will be honoured with an Honorary Emmy for her extensive contributions to the documentary industry. The ceremony, set to take place on September 26th at the Palladium Times Square in New York, will see Hoffmann Meyer become the first Dane to receive the prestigious Silver Circle Award in the documentary category.

Mette Hoffmann Meyer’s career spans over 25 years, including notable roles as head of documentaries at TV2 and the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR). Her work includes producing influential documentaries like the Oscar-winning Taxi to the Dark Side and the Peabody Award-winning global documentary campaigns «Why Democracy?», «Why Poverty?», and «Why Slavery?»

Through THE WHY Foundation, Hoffmann Meyer has remained committed to producing and distributing films that highlight human rights and political injustice, reaching global audiences. Her contributions to the field have earned her numerous accolades, including the Doc Mogul Award at the 2014 Hot Docs Festival.
