The upcoming eleventh edition of MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo was officially launched on May 19th at the Italian Pavilion during the #Cannes Film Festival. The event brought together prominent figures from the global audiovisual sector to outline the strategic direction and expanded international scope of the 2025 edition, which will take place in Rome from 6 to 10 October.
Promoted by ANICA and APA, and directed by Gaia Tridente, MIA continues to assert itself as a pivotal platform for global audiovisual exchange. Tridente moderated the launch panel, joined by Frédéric Lavigne (Series Mania), Cia Edström (Göteborg Film Festival), Jérémie Kessler (CNC), and Roberto Stabile (Cinecittà/DGCA).
Key announcements included the reinforcement of MIA’s international orientation through initiatives such as Scenari Transalpini, a Franco-Italian collaboration led by Institut français Italia in partnership with MIA and Villa Medici, with support from Cinecittà, the Italian Ministry of Culture, and CNC. Six projects were selected for development under this initiative, representing emerging voices from both Italy and France.
MIA 2025 will also introduce Apollo Series, a new training program developed in collaboration with Series Mania Institute and Nordisk Film Market/TV Drama Vision. Further programming will include the Co-Production Market, Content Showcases (including C EU Soon and the Screen International Award), and a renewed edition of SHOOT THE BOOK, fostering literary adaptations.
This edition will host multiple international delegations, including a newly established partnership with the Cuban Film Commission and ICAIC, aiming to stimulate future co-productions.
